Most brides who get married in the cold months choose to wear gowns of the summer months. However, to stay warm and give yourself a classic look, you can just wear a shawl or wrap and still enjoy the strapless gowns that are so popular.

Choosing a Cover Up
Strapless wedding gowns are all the rage now, but how can a bride look good when she has goosebumps down her arms and is shaking from the cold? If you will be wearing a gown that doesn’t provide protection from the cold you may want to wear some kind of pull over to keep you warm. A white faux fur or velvet wrap, shrug, shawl or hooded cape looks stunning atop a white wedding dress.

 Winter Wedding Dress Styles

There are however some beautiful winter wedding dress styles to choose from as well. Many dresses come with long sleeves. You can find gowns made of thick satin or of white velvet. These gowns can have a more elegant and formal look to them. Also you might find a style with faux fur trim around the sleeves and collar. Either way you go, whether it be a slick strapless gown or long sleeved gown, make sure you are warm for your big day.

Where to Find Your Gown

It’s no secret that strapless gowns are popular for brides. Because of that there is a larger supply of those styles. If you do happen to find a winter gown in a magazine or on a website you may want to call the store to see if they have it in stock. Most will order the gown for you if they don’t. Keep in mind however that if you order a gown online you need to be very careful. You won’t have the benefit of being able to see the dress in person, examine it for flaws, nor can you try it on. Make sure you’re able to return the dress within a certain amount of time, say thirty to sixty days, if it does have anything about it you don’t approve of.

You don’t have to try and look good while freezing on your wedding day. If you are planning to get married in the winter then pull off that winter look. Don’t forget to add that “ice” and wear lots of sparkly jewelry to set the mood. Remember it may be cold outside but you can be sure to look hot.
