| The leaves are turning, the pumpkins are full and plump, and your wedding is getting closer with each day that passes. Look no farther for interesting decorating ideas for Fall. Let’s talk about the use of pumpkins: centerpieces made of pumpkins, using pumpkins as serving bowls, and that amazing pumpkin flavored wedding cake.First, let’s use our pumpkin as a homemade flower vase. It will be perfect to use as your centerpieces in the middle of your tables and sure to get a lot of praises. First you will need:
Pumpkins (of course)
A Cylindrical shaped container
Knife or pumpkin carving tools
Pen
Pumpkin scoop or spoon
Flower food
Water
Seasonal flowers
Pumpkin Flower Vase How-To 1. Put the cylindrical-shaped container on top of the pumpkin, to use as tracing guide. Using a pen, trace outside rim of container and score for a perfect fit. 2. Cut off the top of the pumpkin. 3. Scoop out the pulp on the inside with a pumpkin scoop or spoon. Discard pulp. 4. Place the cylindrical container inside the pumpkin to hold the flowers. 5. Pour water into the container and add flower food.(this is important to keep your flowers looking fresh and lasting through your reception) 6. Arrange a variety of seasonal flowers such as dahlias, mums, cockscombs, rose hips, and mini crab apples.(whatever fall flowers you have chosen for your decor)
Now you may want to use pumpkins as large serving bowls or maybe you would like to have them as individual bowls for your guest. Just cut the top off the pumpkin and you can make any design you want as you cut or just go straight around. Then scoop out the pulp and the seeds. Spray a light coating of non stick cooking spray inside the pumpkin, then place your pumpkin on a cookie sheet and bake it at 350* until the flesh of the pumpkin is tender to the the touch. (If you use it within half an hour out of the oven you will be able to keep your food warm) You can use your pumpkin bowls to hold soups, desserts, or really any kind of dish for your reception.
As far as a wedding cake, there is nothing taboo when it comes to flavors. Its all about what you and the grooms tastes are. When going for a fall theme the foods that you serve are what really what brings it all together. Think of the foods that you would find on your Thanksgiving table. The turkey, stuffing, potato dishes, and the pies. The foods that give you that warm comforting feeling. Why not bring your cake into that comfort zone. By having a pumpkin, carrot, or spice cake you will be tying in a meal that will not only leave your guest with a full stomach but at the then end of your exciting and busy day. It will leave you with a satisfied feeling.
